Tuesday June 7, 2016 Hello, Jim and I drove to Tuscarora today. Tuscarora lies about 50 miles north of Elko, NV. Tuscarora lies in the Independence Valley. Prospectors were the first white men interested in this area. In 1867 two brothers Steve and John Beard established a mining district here. Old relics adorn many of the ramshackle buildings. There are no facilities here for tourist but you can take a tour of a family operated pottery school. The cemetery is home to gravesites of early settlers and members of old ranch families. We are off to Heber City, Utah tomorrow. Have a great evening, Jim and Debbie
