Our drive from Hatch to Monument Valley was beautiful. We got to see a deer up close and personal not because we wanted to but because this deer decided to go across the road as Jim was doing 60. Luckly for the deer and us he made it across the road but not before we got the deer in the headlights look from the deer. LOL. Our RV site is beautiful and surrounded by big red mountains.
Our trip to Monument Valley today was amazing. Monument Valley is a Navajo Tribal Park and covers 130,000 square miles of the Colorado Plateau. The Navajo Nation among its 29,817 square miles of endless geological wonders lies in a hidden valley that John Wayne called "Gods Treasure". MV sits at 5,564 ft. above sea level and extends into Arizona and Utah. The height of the monuments range from 100 feet to 1,500 feet and my pictures do not do these formations any justice, you really have to see them for yourself.
This is truly a place where time has stood still and if you stand there long enough you can feel the harmony and peace. The people that still live inside this park do so by simple living as they do not have electricity and some live without running water into their adobes. I bought a bracelet from Caroline who lives in MV with her family and they do not have electricity. Their entertainment is nature and a radio. Caroline is living on the same piece of land that goes back generations and was contented with her life. Her handmade jewelry is a gem.
Happy Trails,
Jim and Debbie
